Carlos Flores Ramirez, baritone
Carlos Flores Ramirez is an organist, vocalist, and choral conductor, born in Mexico and raised in California. After completing high school in California, he pursued education within the Catholic Church, in a Pontifical Society of Canonical Life: the Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest. Through this, he studied in St. Louis, MO, and moved for a time to Bayerisch Gmain, Germany. His musical formation was heavily impacted at this time by Mr. Nicholas Botkins and the Rev. Hubert Stollsteiner.
Upon returning to California in 2015, he resumed his education at the Coil School for the Arts, and studied trombone, voice, piano, organ, and choral conducting. In the summer of 2021, he completed a graduate course in the Ward Method at the Catholic University of America. Being a native of Mexico, he has embraced opportunities to work closely with Hispanic faith communities in the United States. In California, at the age of 16, he began his involvement in church music as an accompanist, playing for services, weddings, and funerals throughout the year. Later on, he served as the choir director at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Community, a trilingual faith community, as well as Holy Martyrs of England and Wales Catholic Church, a faith community of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter.
Currently, he resides in St. Louis, serving as Director of Sacred Music at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, the personal parish for Hispanics in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. He is tasked with providing formation in sacred music to Hispanics of all ages and educational backgrounds. In his spare time, he sings as a Principal Singer with the Bach Society of St. Louis, and enjoys painting, cooking, and tending to his dog.
